REVIEWS OF OTHER YOGA VIDEOS BELOW

I learn something about myself as a yoga student and yoga teacher with each video I watch. Below are reviews of some of the yoga videos that I have used.

I do not like to say negative things about other teachers, so I wil only include positive reviews on this page. There are many other positive reviews that I would like to ad as time permits. Including reviews of videos done by Rodney Yee, Ganga White, Denise Richards (Yes, I know she is mainly a high energy 'exercise' teacher, but I found that one of her videos included some very interesting adaptions to traditional yoga postres), and others.**

** I would like to tell you that I have personally spoken with or exchanged emails with Cameron Shayne of Budokon, Barbara Benagah of essential flow yoga ,  and Elise Miller of Yoga for Scoliosis. They were all quite humble and gracious.  **

Kripalu Yoga Video: Gentle, Dynamic, Partner
Soft, warm lighting, a soothing voice over, and a beautifully designed gentle yoga sequence make this one of the best gentle yoga DVDs I’ve come across. As the instructor gently walks the student from one pose to another, the student can easily flow from posture to posture.

If you are looking for yoga sequence that soothes, relaxes and is easy on the body, try this DVD. Even more experienced practitioners may enjoy using this DVD in the evening before moving practicing a bedtime program of EasyFlow Meditation.

Essential Flow Yoga Video: For Every Body  with Barbara Benagh
The instructor, Ms. Benagh, is centered and grounded with a charming southern inflection. This video is suitable for beginners or intermediate students who want a refresher course on technique. The video includes several sequences: Good Morning (20 min), Good Night (15 min), Quieting Energy (40 min), Invigorating (50 min), Strength & Balance (70 min).

Good Night and  Quieting Energy can be done in the evening, just before your bedtime program of EasyFlow Meditation.  Good Morning, Invigorating,  and Strength & Balance are nice flows for just after awakening with EasyFlow Meditation, or for a day time practice before your mid-day EasyFlow Mediation rest.

One critique of this DVD is that the cover of Barbara on the beach does not accurately reflect the video, which takes place in a studio with a cloth backdrop. The actual asanas (yoga postures) are performed by a young man who moves to Barbara’s voiceover.  I find that the setting is not as warm as I would like. That said, it is still a good DVD.

Yoga for Stress Relief with BarbaraBenagh
This DVD offers several programs that compliment the EasyFlow Meditation program. The setting is on a beautiful beach, with Barbara performing all of the Asanas to her own voiceover. I am a fan of Barabara’s soothing, yet meticulous style. This DVD includes a bonus track in which the Dali Lama discusses meditation.

Chakra Yoga Video with Gurutej Kaur
This gentle introduction to Kundalini yoga offers a complete yoga program that includes movement, breathing, and chanting. It is quite easy for beginners to follow.  One nice way to incorporate this Kundalini DVD into your busy schedule is to practice one segment a day, thus getting through the entire charka system once each week.  This DVD can be used before or after EasyFlow Meditation at any time of day.

Yoga Video & Sculpting with Karen Voight
While I prefer a more rounded yoga practice (eg one that is based upon full yogic science/philosophy), I still enjoy this DVD from time to time. Karen has put together a nice sequence, with clear, easy to follow explanations. This DVD is appropriate for those seeking ‘gym’ yoga.

 Budokon with Cameron Shayne
For those who are new to martial arts and yoga, this DVD offers an introduction to both – half of the DVD incorporates martial arts kicks, while the other half incorporate basic yoga postures.  Also included is a bonus feature that provides step by step instruction for each movement. A great balance of yin/yang activity.

Budokon would work well in the morning, after the EasyFlow mediation awakening.

Yoga Trance Dance
This DVD does not resonate with me personally, as I find it too be more reminiscent of an MTV video than an instructional yoga DVD. However, many of my yoga friends are enraptured by the music, cinematography, and trance dance illustrated in this film.

The video would be beautiful on a large screen television.  If you are an experienced yoga practitioner this video may be to your liking. Beginners should opt for something more instructional.

Yoga for Scoliosis
If, like me, you have scoliosis you may find this yoga video very helpful. When I first started yoga my back was in constant pain. Now, using yoga for scoliosis, and EasyFlow back care routines, I’m able to sleep well, and live pain free. Yoga is a compliment to professional health care – please talk to your doctor before engaging in any yoga program.

Reviews

"I absolutely love EasyFlow Meditation, and have been telling my students about it. I have student recently diagnosed with Hodgkin disease and she is using it to help her calm down and deal with her cancer treatments. Monique's voice is extremely calm and she guides the listener through each meditation in a systematic way that allows one to go deep. I can see why she warns people not to listen to while driving, because it really does put you in a trance and you can easily get so relaxed you want to doze into a comforting nap!"
